Southwest Florida Sea Turtle Rescue is working to build a comprehensive approach to sea turtle conservation across Southwest Florida.
Today, our work focuses on education, community outreach, conservation awareness, volunteer engagement, and building relationships with the people and organizations that share our commitment to protecting sea turtles.
Our long-term goal is to establish a dedicated sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation facility serving Southwest Florida. This facility will allow us to expand our capacity to respond to turtles in need, provide rehabilitation, support successful releases, and strengthen our conservation and education programs.
We are building toward a future where more sea turtles can be rescued, rehabilitated, returned to the wild, and protected for generations to come.

Building the Capacity to Respond
When a sea turtle is injured, sick, stranded, or otherwise in distress, timely intervention can make a critical difference.
We are working toward developing the infrastructure, partnerships, and resources necessary to establish a dedicated sea turtle rescue program serving Southwest Florida.
Our future rescue capabilities will be designed to support:
Response to turtles in need
Safe handling and transportation
Initial assessment and stabilization
Coordination with veterinary and rehabilitation partners
Stranding response and documentation
Our goal: Build the capacity to respond when Southwest Florida's sea turtles need help.

Building a Place for Recovery
A dedicated sea turtle rehabilitation facility is one of our organization's most important long-term goals.
We envision a specialized facility where injured and ill sea turtles can receive appropriate care, recover in a controlled environment, and be prepared for their eventual return to the wild.
Our planned rehabilitation capabilities will include:
Specialized recovery areas
Appropriate husbandry and nutrition
Supportive and rehabilitative care
Veterinary collaboration
Health and recovery monitoring
Preparation for release
Establishing this facility will allow Southwest Florida to have greater local capacity to care for sea turtles in need.

Working Toward the Return to the Wild
For every sea turtle that enters rehabilitation, the ultimate goal should be the same: a safe return to the ocean.
As our rescue and rehabilitation programs develop, we will work toward establishing the systems, partnerships, and protocols necessary to determine when a turtle is ready to return to the wild.
A successful release represents more than the recovery of one animal. It represents the restoration of an important member of Southwest Florida's marine ecosystem.
Our goal: Give every rehabilitated turtle the best possible opportunity to return to the wild.

Sea turtle conservation doesn't begin when a turtle becomes injured. It begins with protecting the beaches, waters, habitats, and ecosystems that sea turtles depend on throughout their lives.

Our long-term vision is to establish a dedicated sea turtle rescue and rehabilitation facility in Southwest Florida.
The facility will provide the space and infrastructure needed to expand our organization's ability to respond to sea turtles in need and develop comprehensive rehabilitation capabilities.
But the facility is only part of the vision.
We are building an organization that connects rescue, rehabilitation, release, conservation, and education into one mission—creating a lasting resource for sea turtles and the communities that care about them.
