Who we are
At Southwest Florida Sea Turtle Rescue, we are a passionate group of ocean advocates dedicated to protecting and rehabilitating one of Florida’s most iconic marine species. Founded with a deep love for sea turtles and a commitment to coastal conservation, our mission is to rescue, rehabilitate, and release injured or sick sea turtles while educating the community about the vital role these animals play in our ecosystem.
Based in the heart of Southwest Florida, we are building a safe haven for sea turtles in need—whether they’ve been harmed by boat strikes, entangled in debris, or affected by red tide. Our work combines science, compassion, and community, driven by the belief that every turtle deserves a second chance at life in the wild.
We may be a small team, but our vision is bold: to create a lasting impact for sea turtles and inspire others to protect our oceans for generations to come.
Why we do it
Sea turtles have survived for over 100 million years—but today, they face more threats than ever before. From pollution and habitat loss to fishing line entanglement and boat strikes, these ancient mariners are struggling to survive in a world shaped by human activity.
At Southwest Florida Sea Turtle Rescue, we believe it’s our responsibility to step up and make a difference. Every injured turtle we save, every life we help heal, is a step toward restoring balance in our oceans. But it’s about more than just rescue—it’s about respect. Respect for wildlife, for the delicate ecosystems along our coastline, and for future generations who deserve to experience the wonder of sea turtles in the wild.
We do this work because we care deeply. Because these creatures matter. And because even small acts of compassion can ripple out to create lasting change.
What makes our group unique
At Southwest Florida Sea Turtle Rescue, we’re more than just a rescue organization—we’re a grassroots movement fueled by heart, hope, and hands-on action. What sets us apart is our deep-rooted commitment to personalized care, community involvement, and practical impact.
We operate with a small, dedicated team that treats every turtle like it's the only one in the world. Our approach is local, compassionate, and transparent—we believe in earning trust through hard work, ethical practices, and education that empowers others to get involved.
Unlike larger facilities, we focus on building strong relationships with our community, volunteers, and local partners. Every person who joins our mission becomes part of our story—and part of the solution.
We’re not just saving turtles—we’re creating a culture of care, one rescue at a time.
